Nearby Nanyuki Airfield has a daily flight to Nairobi with connections to Mombasa, Lamu, Masai Mara, Samburu and most places of interest. The small township of Naro Moru has basic shopping and Nanyuki 21 kms on a good road, has more including Barclays Bank and a golf course.
Naro Moru River Lodge, within walking distance of the property, has squash, tennis, swimming pool, trout fishing, riding, two bars and restaurants.
Jackson is there to look after guests’ daily requirements. Guests are asked to do their own shopping. There are also two gardeners and a night watchman. Kenya born Enid and Tony Frere live nearby and will gladly help with information.

A Traditional settlers’ homestead in
the foothills of Mount Kenya
Virtually on the equator, this attractive house is about 180 kms north of Nairobi. At an altitude of 6,300 feet Naro Moru enjoys a perfect year round climate. Set in 23 acres of wooded pastureland. Naro Moru House has a kilometre of trout river. Built in cedar, about 1940, its recent restoration balances traditional features with modern, comfortable facilities.
The main house has well furnished dining and living rooms, both with log fires. Two double bedrooms have bathrooms en suite. There is a fitted kitchen and verandahs for outside dining.
The nearby guest cottage has two twin bedded rooms and a bathroom (full bath with shower over) and a good verandah.
Naro Moru House is the ideal base from which to climb the mountain or to visit Mount Kenya and Aberdare National Parks with their famous lodges (Treetops, Mount Kenya Safari Lodge, The Ark and Mountain Lodge). Solio Ranch, famous for its Rhino conservation with limited visitor access is minutes away. There is magnificent bird watching over 300 species can be seen in and around the property.
