Mission and A Fool’s Knot are African novels set in Kenya. The books deal with politics, culture, development and relationships in a fast changing society. They describe how people and places change as they develop. They examine the social and personal effects that change can bring, the tragedies and conflicts that can arise. Both books are based on my own experience as a teacher in Migwani School, Kitui District, in the 1970s.

African child mortality rate up
NAIROBI (Kenya) – A NEW report on the UN’s Millennium Development Goals says 10 African countries have halved their poverty rates but that child mortality has increased in six sub-Saharan nations. Sub-Saharan Africa is the only region registering an increase in the mortality rate for children younger than 5 years.
