And the economic illiterates begin again in defense of the liberal, collectivist economics of failure.

It's hilarious and borderlines on hysteria.

The usual suspects in Yahoo! Answers continue to confuse conservatism with liberalism, and Republicans (in name only) with Democrats.

The "neo cons" as some put it, or the "conservatives", as they ignorantly state, followed the ideology and fiscal polcity of the left. Why do you think so many conservatives and true Republicans have been screaming mad at the Republicans since say, the late 90s? Why do you think we call them RINOs?

While the impressionable and vacuous sheeple - TheKitten, (below) for instance - witlessly (and quite humorously) blame the housing and financial debacle on the "conservatives", they do not realize that the Democrats (following liberal ideology) are the architects of the malaise and the
Republicans (in name only) simply voted with the Democrats. It started back in the Carter administration with the Community Reinvestment Act and gained additional federal authority in the 90s. Economists warned what would happen if the government arrogantly and unconstitutionally told financial institutions that they would guarantee the loans. They gave it a 20-30 year time frame to eruption. Sound familiar?

What Obama and the administration are doing is precisely what you need to do to ensure the overall reduction in the standard of living, the elimination of classes, and the increase of those on the government dole.

You do not raise taxes in a recession.
You do not increase government spending in a recession. You do not increase the minimum wage (which is destructive and counter-intuitive as it is) in a recession.
You do not increase corporate taxes in a recession.
You do not flirt with socialized medicine in general, but you certainly do not do so in a recession.
You do not flirt with emissions trading (cap and trade) in a recession.

If you picked up a book on how NOT to "save" an economy, he and Congress are following it line by line. The presence of government is the greatest of enemies to a semi-free market. The only thing the government can do to provide incentive in the economy is to get the hell out of the way.

Considering that neocon policies brought about the biggest world recession since the great depression, I think we can safely ignore conservatives' ideas on economics for the next generation or two.

Believe it or not, globalization requires equalization of economies. That is the path we are on. Unfortunately that will not result in other economies or quality of lives to ascend to ours but will result in the opposite. Read UN Agenda 21.
